Jackson here! While I may be a small Common Eider, I’m quite distinguished, if I do say so myself.
I was discovered in Crooner’s Lounge, tucked behind a sofa among some decorative rocks. It was the perfect hiding spot—cozy, quiet, and with a wonderful view out the window of the sparkling sea. Since it was a sea day, I had a full schedule ahead of me.
First, I took a nice nap. Being a cruise duck is exhausting work. After waking up, I checked the Patter to see what activities were happening onboard. A responsible traveler always stays informed! I even completed my customs form early. No last-minute paperwork for this duck.
Feeling musical, I put on my top hat and hopped over to the piano. I played a few tunes before visiting with some new friends. I had worked up quite an appetite so I enjoyed a delicious slice of pizza. It was so good I briefly considered becoming a food critic.
Next, I headed to the pool. Unfortunately, the waves were a bit too enthusiastic for my liking. After nearly getting splashed off my tiny feet, I grabbed a towel and made my way to the front of Deck 15. There, I relaxed and enjoyed the incredible ocean views.
Along the way, I rode the glass elevator several times just because it was fun.
Later, I settled into a stateroom window with a pair of binoculars and did some birding. I spotted gulls, distant seabirds, and maybe even a cousin or two.
Feeling adventurous, I then perched on a wooden seaman’s shoulder and pretended to be a pirate’s parrot. “Pieces of pizza!” I squawked.
As evening approached, I decided it was time for a new hiding place. I made my way to the Italian-themed hallway and climbed above a lightpost where I could watch everyone pass by below. Now I wait patiently for the next lucky cruiser to find me and take me along on even more adventures. After all, a cruise duck’s journey is never finished—it just floats from one story to the next.
